about

My good friend and favorite worship leader Seth Snider came for a visit a few years ago and we hiked a mountain together in Prescott Arizona. During our journey we talked about the difficulty of suffering, pain, the desert, the storm, unmet expectations and disappointment. When we reached the top we realized how cynical we were being and how lame our faith level was! So we prayed, started worshiping...and out came this song about entering God's rest based in Hebrews 4.

lyrics

Rest

D
There’s a glory that shines in Your eyes
Bm A
It pierces the darkness, the fear in our lives
D
Though we walk through the barren and dry
Bm A
There is hope for the broken a new form of life

G D
We will sing a new song
Bm A
To the Lord who calls us home
G Bm
We are longing for You Father
G A D
To lift us up and save us from the storm

D
There is joy in the presence of Christ
Bm A
A peace that surpasses the pain that we fight
D
Lord forgive us for turning from grace
Bm A
Bind us together to walk in Your ways

G D
We say no to the worry
Bm A
We say no to the weight that holds us down
G Bm
We say no to the pressures of this world
G A Bm A G A D
We are resting……….. in the arms of the Lord
